Building Strong Families and Communities

The American Family has long been the backbone of our society. Raising my two children to become the wonderful adults they are today, and watching them give me two grand children to dote on, has been one of the greatest and most defining experiences of my life. No political, vocational or social aspirations or achievements can hold a candle to the joy and responsibilities I was endowed with, when I became a father.

Because of the memories and experiences I was blessed with, policies that support and encourage families and their communities are my top priorities. We must not limit loving relationships and the families they create. These family bonds are the ones that will create the generations to come. Those families, regardless of composition, must have children born and raised in a loving atmosphere, raised with a great education and raised to appreciate the freedoms and responsibilities granted to each citizen of this great Nation. Only with this love and nurturing will they grow to become productive citizens and the loving, well-rounded founders of their own families.

I also want to ensure the diversity, interests and acceptance of the people that strengthen our communities. Pride and participation in those communities will lead to that same pride and participation in the progress seen by our entire country. Hatred and distrust will lead to a country stumbling in stagnation. We must strive to limit the cynicism, negativity and selfish, “me-first” mentality in our communities. We must all try, as we speed through the 21st Century, to live up to President Kennedy's request of nearly 50 years ago. We must ask not what our community will do for us, but what we can do for our families, our community and our country.
