Dave spoke extensively with former Marine and U.S. weapons inspector Scott Ritter, following Ritter's speech at the University of Florida in March. Ritter, currently a volunteer firefighter, and "card-carrying Republican," spoke about the war in Iraq and the history of our dealings with that nation. He also was very kind in encouraging Dave to continue his quest for a seat in the House of Representatives.

In March, Dave met with both historian Howard Zinn and environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as both swept through the Gainesville area. Dave is an admirer of both men, who are also accomplished authors.

Dave congratulates Nancy Bell, winner of the Lake County Democrats Claude Pepper Award. Nancy, a resident of the Villages in Lady Lake, is the Democratic Co-chair for District 6. She was presented with the award for her long record of outstanding service and leadership. Dave participated in the festivities along with Senator Bill Nelson. Nancy is a valued member of Dave's team, representing the campaign in Lake County.

Dave stands with Cynthia Pooler of the DCCPAC, in Washington, prior to meeting with Chairman Rahm Emanuels of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Cynthia Pooler is the founder of November Victory – a nationwide organization of progressive Democrats challenging entrenched incumbents.
